We’re often asked if we can melt down heirloom gold to create something new. These requests are always deeply meaningful—and we understand the sentimental value behind them. But in practice, melting down existing gold isn’t as straightforward as it may seem.
Because every alloy is unique, we can’t guarantee the final color, carat, or quality of the gold once it’s been remelted. The process also results in material loss, meaning you’d need nearly twice the amount of gold to produce a single new piece.
For these reasons, we don’t melt down old gold. However, we’re happy to offer credit toward your custom piece once we’ve confirmed the weight and purity of your gold. While your new jewelry won’t be made from the exact same material, we’ll work closely with you to design something just as meaningful.
